My Journey – Indian Head Massage
Continuing on my journey began in May 2013 after receiving news that I was going to be made redundant from my part time role as an Operational Analyst at the end of the year. I assessed what I wanted to do for a living and decided to go self employed as a Holistic Therapist. With the qualifications I had previously gained I became a member of The Guild of Holistic Therapists and gained insurance. I investigated all the courses available and what treatments people would be interested in. I went on to enrol on an Indian Head Massage Diploma Course to attend in December 2013.
How I chose Indian Head Massage?
I decided this would be a great treatment to add as clients had been requesting head massage and I was interested in the history of Indian Head Massage. During the course I learnt the theory and history and the full routine. I was assessed during my practical demonstrations and a written examination. The client care for Indian Head massage and equipment required was very similar to Swedish Massage.
What is Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage is a massage on the upper back, neck, shoulders and head followed by a face massage. It is performed seated in a chair or massage couch. You can be clothed or wrapped in a towel and oil is normally used but not essential.
Benefits of Indian Head Massage
By massaging the head and hair promotes a healthy blood flow and increasing growth of the hair. By using oil during the treatment it improves the texture of the hair. Indian Head Massage is popular with men and women. It also provides stress relief, aiding the reduction of aches and pains
I complete a full consultation with each new client before their treatment to check that you are medically and physically fit for the treatment. Indian Head Massage is a 30 minute treatment in a seated position and can often add it on to a back and shoulder massage to help with achieving the ultimate relaxation experience.
Building my business
I came home from the course buzzing and eager to practice the treatment. Family members were willing for me to practice my new skills on them. Indian Head Massage was soon added to my treatment list and advertised on my Facebook page. Shortly after advertising the treatment people booked in and I received great feedback.
By the end of December 2013 I was offering Swedish Massage, Manicures, Pedicures and Indian Head Massage. A ITEC Reflexology course was enrolled on to start in January 2014 so that I could concentrate on studying.
If you require any further information or have any questions about any of the treatments I offer there is many ways to contact me.
